SHIVERING KILLARNEY

Current Song: OneRepublic – Stop and Stare

Killarney Camping Day 1

Started at 7AM with 2 Timmy stops prior to reaching municipality of Killarney (population of 500). It took 4.5 hours. Canoed for almost 2 hours prior to arrival at our random camp site. I haven’t canoed in the longest time therefore I constantly forgot to switch sides. We started at Bell Lake to Three Mile Lake and ended at Balsam Lake. My friends set up the site slowly because most of us (including me) were beginners and were clueless on camping related tasks. Luckily, previous campers left fire wood for us so less effort was spent on chopping wood. First night’s dinner consisted of “angel hair spaghetti with Alfredo and smoked salmon”. Unique combination but very good although it looked like tuna instead. The starry night was beautiful with the colourful moon slowly raising.

Killarney Camping Day 2

Surprised, birds did not chip in the morning. Being the sleeping bug I am, I woke up only when breakfast was prepared. To my shock, some lost stupid person (or drunk dude) found his way to our campsite. He was lost the prior night, walked for half the night and reached our site because he heard us talking in the morning. We paddled him back to his site (10 minutes away). It puzzles and shocks me on how he reached our site as its 2 hours walking distance in a forest at the middle of the night? Scary. We paddledto a short portaging section area and then on David Lake to reach Silver Peak (~500+ meters above sea level). It’s name came is due to its silvery/white gleam when the sun shines on it. The hike was around 5 hours (overall) with steeps hills, very rocky paths and wet grounds. I (being slow and clumbsy as usual) had various klutz moments consisting of “trying” hard not to get my shoes dirty but concluding with numerous steps into “huge” muddy puddles. Slipping on rocks and screaming every few minutes. This opened my friends’ eyes: Determined to hold a branch for assistance, but ended up “swinging” and sliding down the branch at fast pace! The top of the peak was very nice and marked heart of Killarney although very chilly. Had a quick lunch of wraps The leaves were slowly changing colours so it was good timing. Another night of stars all over, very nice. Our group had a lot of fun creating and maintaining the camp fire keeping us warm. Sleeping that night was very cold and chilly as I was shivering despite the 4 layers of clothes on me.

Killarney Camping Day 3

The morning skies were beautiful especially watching the sun raise on a peaceful lake. Cold though; therefore a morning camp fire was started. Had instant noddles with bacon for breakfast and then departed back. Prior to going home, we stopped at Herbert Fish and Chips and Killarney Main Campgrounds on George Lake. I got 8+ bug bites for the entire trip despite the cold weather. Arrived back at FOB town at 6:45 PM; JIT for a royal birthday.

Thoughts

Wrote this section several times but kept deleting. Decided to type the randomness from the mind. Recently, some worries arise. A short-term challenge will begin and I predict forest fires, drought or hail to occur. My poor 4 fishes died in a week. Delicious Pumpkin Cheesecake sitting very lonely in the fridge. Admire the maturity of dear ones that speak rather than avoid. If only I can speak out. Confidence issue arise everywhere. And to conclude, three simple words.

ANOTHER FROZEN FESTIVAL

Current Song: New Kids on the Block – Stare at You

Shakespearean DB Festival

A group of us decided to crash Stratford a day earlier to avoid driving in the morning. All in all, I felt sorry for my “quiet” friends due to my “natural” personality and habits. I was shivering majority of the day because it was heavy rain throughout. Although we received no medals but 4th overall is worth more than medals as it helps with my off-season PR. To all, enjoy your off-season. I’m really going to miss the sport itself, random dinners/talks, and the people. Every year, there are dramatic changes…..

Geek Book

One of my closest friends’ book is published (well being) – Practical Programming – Intro to CS.. Congrats!

Thoughts

As various matters are discussed with dear ones recently. I, myself, picture/imagine some unfortunate situations. Honestly speaking, the actions/words currently conducted/used are all on an immature level. Some are unintentional through miscommunication, rumours, or unreasonable words/actions spoken/done. Mainly, it’s due to lack of confidence and not being able to overcome the word – fear.?? Will I ever be able to overcome this ‘fear’?

THE MIND

Current Song: Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars

I usually blog weekly but this week felt really long. And it’s 4 days? Many thoughts gathered in the confused mind. I’m not sure how to word it leaving me in dead silence, stares and blankness. Hard work and time placed into fertilizing suddenly disappears and strangers take over. People’s mind change too quickly without question.?? And the list goes on.?? Another major note, I feel bad. I opened something that is incorrect to do. But my curiosity won the battle.?? I’m not in total shock but I can say it’s not a good feeling.???? I know its better to know earlier but it’s very contradicting.

7 days without coffee. It takes 2-3 Lipton teas for the replacement of that 1 coffee… Hmm… I went to watch my db friend in his small production of – ‘fantastics’. Not bad, go watch it, it’s on for the next 2 weeks!

We’ll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don’t need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don’t quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They’re not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we’re told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that’s bursting into life

Let’s waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we’re told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that’s bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they’re all I can see

I don’t know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

END OF SUMMER

Current Song: Jordin Sparks – One Step At A Time

Nova Scotia: Sleepy Day 1

I left my favourite Vita Lemon Tea and huge sunblock container in my back-pack; for obvious reasons airport security confiscated it. I looked so lost that even the security guard lady was laughing at me. Late dinner at Economy Shoe Shop. At 3AM, the fire alarm at the hotel decides to ring non-stop. W all ended up standing outside for half an hour before we let back in.

Nova Scotia: Sleepy Day 2

We on the Harbour Hopper. Pretty interesting. Went to Halifax Citadel for curious reasons. Ate McLobster just because it’s a “McLobster”. Drove to Lunenburg for whale watching. Very adventurous 3 hour water ride. No whales but saw smaller types of dolphins, seagulls and “sheeps” on an isolated island. I was in shock at the first 15 minutes in the hotel because they lost my reservation and the reception person had a nervous breakdown in front of me? I was advising him on what to do and he seemed so lost. At the end, the girls flipped on him and he was so “nice” later on for obvious reasons. But sleeping in a smoking room was horrible especially with no A/C for majority of the night.

Nova Scotia: Sleepy Day 3

Harveys Breakfast. Conrad’s Wedding Ceremony was located in a very nice church in Lunenburg. Although, no candles on the side like previous ones I’ve attended. Diary Queen for late lunch (yummy). Reception at Days Inn. Very simple and small. Congratulations to the Conrads!

Nova Scotia: Day 4

Went on the Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct Hiking Trail located an hour out of Bridgewater. Very scenic view although short hike. Rocks and waves were nice. Walking on cold water in beach areas. Seal watching. Drove to Milton (Nova Scotia) to go to Mersey Lodge. Conrad booked the entire cottage. View was calm and relaxing to the mind. Ended up being quiet all night. Hung out with group in “hot tub area” for jokes at the end. Stuffy room but good sleep.

Nova Scotia: Day 5

Super fast lunch. 2+ hour drive to East Dover (near Peggy’s Cove area). Went on a sea kayaking tour around Easter Dover. Loved it. Had an interesting time steering. Short hike around Dover Island. Watching the Atlantic Waters really warms the heart. Kayaked for 3 hours overall. Dropped by Peggy’s Cove for a sunset view. Asked to go to Saltys for dinner. Dressed up in causal clothing and salt water smell into a fine dining restaurant. I made a huge mess. At 12AM, we took a self guided tour of Halifax till 2AM looking for “Lower Deck” pub. When we found it, the place was closed. Went to Casino (very dry).

Nova Scotia: Day 6

Went to Alexander Keith’s Brewery Tour. Good beer. Tasted 2 different types of Keiths. Cow’s ice-cream afterwards. Good! Bumped into the Conrads at the airport gas station. What fate! Kodak moment. Arrived in Toronto airport at 9:30pm. Bumped and congratulated the Olympic silver medalist Jason Burnett. He represented Canada at the recent Olympics.

Thoughts

It’s September 1st. Time does fly by fairly quickly. Very pleased with the summer. I got to plan, demand, learn, experience, complain, whine, cry and smile. Some friendships were deepened greatly through a variety of situations and trips. Many injuries, accidents, bug bites, scars and more. I’m surprised I haven’t made it to the hospital or shocked the family. Wallet is quite empty. Multiple occasions of surprises that occurred creating a smile from the heart and clueless thoughts to the mind. Regardless of how all is going to be, thanks for great memories my dear ones.
